Came back from Thanksgiving Holiday travel and found that my 360 wouldn't read any game discs. I researched online and found many people replaced the laser. Can be bought on ebay for cheap. Instead of doing that, I opened up the 360 and opened the DVD drive exposing the laser lens. I can see cloudiness over the lens. I took a q-tip and sprayed it with my TV screen cleaner solution and carefully wiped the lens. Now there's no more haze/fogginess on the lens, it's crystal clear. Then I tested the some games and they worked again! Reassembled the 360 and set it back in place in the TV stand. People, if it's out of warranty, try to clean the lens yourself before buying a new one. I have my PS3 longer than my 360 and the PS3 hasn't had any disc reading problems even though the PS3 is a dust magnet.
